Prior to 2020, the only painting I’d ever done was in a class with Ursula Medley, a well-known international artist who lives just up the road from us in Powell River. The resulting oil painting was mediocre at best. But then, in October of 2020, recovering from a hip replacement operation, I got hooked on acrylic pour painting. In that first year, well over 100 paintings found their way to new homes. What I discovered is that giving away paintings takes just about the same amount of time and effort that selling them does. These days, paintings that are deemed wall-worthy are the only ones that don’t get repainted.
What I find most enjoyable is the paint nights on Sundays with my best friend, Melissa Sibbald. We each have a lot of fun experimenting and trying out different techniques.
